Today, we were part of the California State University’s COVID-19 Response, Update webinar. April Grommo, Director of Enrollment Management Services, shared the latest changes made to the application for Fall 2021 (and possibly to future admission cycles). Here are some of the highlights:
CSU is 100% TEST-BLIND (no scores will be used for admission purposed)
If you take the ACT or SAT for Fall 2021, the scores will only be used for course placements
Cal State Apply will have additional questions regarding extra-curricular activities, work experience, and academic program involvement
Each campus will determine how the supplemental information is used (there is a possibility that freshman grades will be considered)
Some supplemental factors that may be considered are: quantitative GPA for STEM, income level, participation educational programs, and activities mentioned above
Middle-college students may have a competitive advantage given the rigor
Pass/No Pass course policy will be extended to future application seasons
Eligibility GPA is a 2.5 with no test scores
Some campuses may consider 2.0-2.49 for in-state students
*Fee waiver eligibility: adjusted on an annual basis
No matter what year you are currently in, know that you can start putting your resume together. Make sure to add details on the activities and time commitment as these are possible factors that CSUs may consider in their review. The Cal State University application will be released on October 1, 2020. We will keep you posted as more information is released.
